Duplicate File Finder

Find files that are exact copies of each other, even when the names are different. The tool compares the actual contents, then groups every identical file so you can clear out the clutter.

Read the guide: How to Find Duplicate Files
Drag files here, or use the buttons above to pick files or a whole folder.

How it works

  1. 1

    Select files or a folder

Drop in a group of files, or pick a whole folder to scan.

  2. 2

    Scan for matches

Each file is fingerprinted and compared by content, not by name or date.

  3. 3

    Review the groups

Identical files are grouped together so you can see exactly which copies to delete.

Frequently asked questions

How does it decide two files are duplicates?
It compares a fingerprint of each file’s contents. Two files are only flagged as duplicates when their contents are byte-for-byte identical, so a renamed copy is caught and two different photos never are.
Will it delete files for me?
No. The tool only finds and groups duplicates so you stay in control. You decide which copies to remove using your own file manager.
Can it scan a large folder?
Yes. Because the work happens on your device, you can scan large sets of files without uploading anything or waiting on a server.
Is my file sent to a server?
No. Everything runs locally in your browser. Your file is read and processed on your own device, nothing is uploaded, and nothing is logged or stored.
